You’ve made it through the home study, the match, and placement day—huge milestones. And then comes the part many families don’t expect:
Post-placement visits.
If you’re wondering what that means (or why it’s required), you’re not alone. This stage is simply about checking in, offering support, and documenting how things are going as your family adjusts.
At Adoption Advocates, we provide post-placement services for families across Texas—regardless of the agency or attorney you’re working with. Our goal is to make this step feel straightforward, supportive, and one less thing to worry about.
What to Expect During Post-Placement Visits
If you’re picturing something formal or stressful, you can relax a bit—these visits are typically more laid-back than the home study.
Here’s what usually happens:
- Check-ins on how everyone is adjusting
We’ll talk about routines, bonding, sleep (yes, we’ll acknowledge the sleep), and how things are going overall. - Time with your child
Your social worker will observe your child in your home and interact with them in age-appropriate ways. - A look at your home environment
Not a re-inspection—just confirming that everything continues to be safe and appropriate. - Support and guidance
Questions will come up during this stage, and this is a great time to ask them. - Report preparation
After each visit, your social worker will complete documentation required for your adoption to move forward.

Post-Placement Service Fees
Adoption Advocates can also conduct the post-placement visits required by the state of Texas before finalization can take place. These visits will ensure that the child and your family are a good fit and are adjusting well.
In-Home: $350
Private Office Visit: $200
Group: $125 per family
Additional siblings: $50 per report
Additional travel fees may apply for families outside our primary service area ($35/hour plus mileage).
